Consultation with interagency staff
Kids Konnect is able to draw on over 50 years of experience in the child protection and Out of Home Care fields to assist in case management of complex cases.
We do this using a strengths based approach, which aims to improve relationships with agency staff and carers as well as improving overall outcomes for children in care.
We bring both evidence based and experiential expertise to cases involving children in Out Of Home Care. Our consultative services are focused on best practice principles and the needs of the child.
Kids Konnect offers consultation services to agency staff on a variety of issues to support case management. We provide advice about:
- contact with birth families
- behavioural problems
- parenting
- supporting carers to help children through grief and loss
- understanding trauma
- supporting placement transitions.
We offer case-by-case consultations, providing a summary consultation report to assist in case management and review.
Group consultation
Group consultation is another service we offer to agencies, providing expertise in trauma, attachment and parenting and behaviour management.
We are available to attend group case reviews to discuss a range of cases, and provide advice from a unique psychological or social work perspective, depending on the case.
Kids Konnect also offers ongoing consultative support on complex cases.
Family group conferencing
The experienced Psychologists and Social Workers at Kids Konnect can facilitate a Family Group Conference to support families to overcome challenges and help them more effectively communicate and manage behaviour.
We can manage the process from the preparation stage – helping to identify participants and issues – through to conducting the meeting and developing, distributing and reviewing the plan.
A Family Group Conference is usually a positive experience for children as they are supported to have their voice heard.
Kids Konnect is well known for its holistic and creative approach and we will ensure that the outcomes are first and foremost in the best interests of the child
Consultation reports
Our summary reports serve as a record of discussion concerning complex cases and offer staff a written plan to assist with ongoing case management.
We provide ongoing case consultation on more complex cases, and may offer further services such as psychological assessments, including placement assessments, parenting capacity assessments, family relationship assessmentsand assessments of children’s behaviour or development.
